In December 2009 world leaders will meet at the United Nations climate summit (COP-15) in Copenhagen. They will negotiate about a new international climate agreement replacing the so-called Kyoto-protocol that expires in 2012. - The coming negotiations at the summit – and the public debate in general - relies to a large extent on information from the UN Climate Panel (IPCC), especially the Panel’s latest published Assessment Report from 2007. In this presentation we will take point of departure in the Climate Panel, and try to answer the following two questions: (1) What is the status of the knowledge on climate change ? – and (2) Is the Climate Panel accountable ?.
